Exceptional service, stay & location. What a way to start our walk across the wall. We were treated like old friends by the lovely hosts and entire village. Not to mention the beautiful house, tasty breakfast and fantastic historic water front location. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Best way to start the Hadrians Wall Path. Room had a soft bed, good facilities and a superb view across the Solway Firth. Nicola and Paul were very accommodating so the stay was very pleasant. Best way I know to start the Hadrians Wall Path. Five stars well deserved.

Stay while walking the wall Great place to end the walk. Paul and Nicole were very welcoming. The room had great views over the solway and was very comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was excellent and the facilities first class. Great atmosphere and a fantastic place to stay at the end of the wall walk.

The best breakfast we had all week We stayed as a group of 5 friends in 3 rooms on the last night of our coast-to-coast walk. I can honestly say it was the best accommodation (and the best breakfast) we had across the 7 nights of our adventure. The guest house is beautiful - decorated and fitted out to a very high standard with fantastic views across the estuary. The showers were warm, the beds comfy and it was just a short walk to the local pub (we’d just walked 84 miles so needed a pint). Nicola and Paul were very welcoming - the right mix of friendly (and helpful) conversation whilst also leaving us to chat amongst ourselves at the breakfast table. They didn’t even object that we’d turned up dressed as romans!

The perfect end to The Wall We stayed at Shore Gate House at the end of our stunning walk along Hadrians Wall. What a great end to our holiday! Beautifully decorated to a very high standard with a lovely room, fabulous breakfast and the lapping of the Solway Firth outside the windows. Very, very memorable. Best views ever We stayed at Shore Gate House the night before commencing our walk along Hadrian's wall. The owners were lovely and the room was spacious and renovated to a high standard, with a comfy bed and quality shower, but the overriding feature for us was the amazing views from our bedroom window. There was even a handy bird watching guide and binoculars to borrow.We stayed at a number of B & B's along the walk, but this one also wins our recommendation for the best cooked breakfast. We were able to leave our car here for a very reasonable daily rate and when we returned we were even offered a coffee before our journey home and allowed in to use the loo!

The perfect b&b Stayed 1 night at Shoregate House in April and it was just lovely. Really comfortable room, bed and bedding with everything you need in the room. Brilliant views over the solway estuary. Really friendly and helpful owners giving a recommendation on pizza from the nearby bistro. Breakfast also excellent. The perfect b&b to start or finish the Hadrians wall path - or for any reason.

Stunning BnB Beautiful bnb perfectly suited for a lovely stay, we stayed in the top room with en-suite shower, comfy bed in an superbly decorated room with a stunning view over the water. Can’t fault the owners, the room or the delicious food. Amazed that they have only been open since Dec 2021, as they are well versed in being the perfect hosts.

Warm welcome in newly refurbished house We stayed here the night before walking part of Hadrian's Wall from Carlisle to Bowness on Solway.We were warmly welcomed by both owners and were shown our room.The room had been newly and tastefully decorated and there was a great view over the solway firth to Scotland.Beds were comfortable with good shower in ensuite and tea/coffee in room.Sunrise was an extra bonus! See picture.Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and set us up for a day's walking.Arrived back late afternoon to collect our car and couple came out to say well done before we left.Would recommend staying here at start / end of walk or if in area for birdwatching.
